The American Flag

Hello, my name is Sandra Opokua.  I want to tell you what the American flag means to me. The American flag means a lot to me because it represents the country that will give me a better life and a good future. The flag means freedom to me because it is the only land in the world that lets you do everything you want but not bad things. The American flag stands unique and special in my life. The flag is the most colorful flag in my life and it shines everyday for me. The flag represents a country that helps people in need especially the poor kids in third world countries and that is what is unique about the flag.

In my opinion when people around the world see the flag they should bow like I always do when I see the flag. The flag stands for loyalty, justice, liberty, equality and  freedom for all people and me. I will always respect and obey the American flag because the country that it represents

always gives opportunity to people in need like me. In my country of birth Ghana people pay money to wear a shirt with the American flag on it. They wish they could have a good opportunity like I do, but they can’t. In Ghana I used to wake up in the morning and go and fetch water to bathe. My house was far away from my school but I had to walk. I was always late to school and I got whipped or caned six
times on my back. In Ghana when we were doing tests, you had to study the whole notes the teacher gave you and you would never get an ‘A’ because you didn’t know what was going to be on the test. In Ghana you can’t hug anybody in public or have a boyfriend.

This is why the American flag means a lot to me because when I see it every day it gives me hope. The flag makes me feel united. I will raise the flag higher in the sky. The American flag shines like gold. I will risk my life to save the American flag. I will always pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of American and respect it every time I see it.
