Site Council Roles and Responsibilities
Roles

 

Site councils bring together parents, teachers, staff, the principal, community members and sometimes students, to work collaboratively to help their schools be successful. The members' different points of view, expertise and experience are brought together in the council forum to creatively solve problems and reach high quality results.

 

Site Council members work together to:

 

·         Improve student achievement

·         Solve school concerns

·         Shape school policies and procedures

·         Promote understanding and communication among cultures

·         Involve the broader school community in council projects and activities

·         Have input into the selection of the school principal and sometimes staff

·         Drive school change and develop conditions for success

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Recommend approval of the School Continuous Improvement Plan

·         Oversee the implementation of the School Continuous Improvement Plan

·         Help plan and prioritize the school budget

·         Annually recommend the adoption of the school budget

 

IN addition to the above roles and responsibilities, schools have the flexibility to develop their site councils to meet the needs of their schools.
